Flitwick is a small town set in the heart of Bedfordshire and
is the home to many interesting features, such as Flitwick
moor, Flitwick Manor and Flitwick Mill.
There has been a settlement on the site since 4000bc and
Flitwick has since been occupied by Romans and Saxons. The
Romans where the first occupants to really establish Flitwick
with the building of the Roman road linking Ermine Street and
Watling Street. Today that road is better known as Windmill
Road. After the Romans, the Saxons moved into Flitwick
building farms near the sites now occupied by Flitwick Manor
and Flitwick Mill.
